You have a point. You sound quite disenchanted with Medium. I can understand that. It IS a bit like Sisyphus on Medium. Especially now that their algorithms have changed.

If your work is mediocre, even if you come with thousands of followers, sooner or later followers break away from you. Umair writes consistently, sometimes it’s a noisy rant, sometimes a sweet simple parable. But it has substance and resonates with his readers. He raises questions which many of us have forgotten to ask. His work gives many of us hope. Sounds paradoxical I know, but his doom and gloom approach energizes, galvanizes.

Keep writing and hang in there. There are many writers who came to medium with zero followers and built a solid readership.

As for Camus and other tortured self absorbed creatives, I think their personal lives are the stuff of an ordinary person’s nightmares.What they have gifted us is timeless. The essence of their souls. Spouses and suchlike were incidental and got in the way!
