You are taking too superficial a view of Dune.
The entire series of books are brilliant. Frank Herbert was a visionary and a masterful writer.
Let’s not forget it’s fiction with appeal of exotica. Villeneuve has handled it masterfully as much as is possible with a saga of Dune stature.
I argue that Fremen are not portrayed as Lawrence’s rag tag tribes of Arabia.
Neither does Paul compare in any way with him. His prescience is mighty and gives us God Emperor Leto. And so on.
Lawrence was a colonialist narcissist gung ho with desire to further britains interests in the region. He’s a villain. He gave us House of Saud. Shudder.
I digress.
All in all, both Dune films are all -consuming.
