Yearning for a Departed Lover

~ the space between renewals ~

In

green

recesses of animated silence,

steeped

in the aftermath of a thunderstorm,

grass

as bright as spinner’s silk,

was separating it’s blades,

hearing them grow.

I stood transfixed

under a dark dank juniper;

and in it’s elbow

a latticed

hammock of a

mammoth cobweb

cradled

dead brown leaves

in which

a quick red bird was

frenziedly building a nest!

A home within a home,

essence of co-existence…

acidic

rusty spice of wet

walnut trees swelled up

around me

and settled on raindrops

waiting
