Wow. You really trashed Lynch’s Dune!

I felt it was for the initiated, devotees of Herbert/Dune. Those unfamiliar with Herbert’s meditative philosophical genius were left floundering and obfuscated. With good reason.
Back during prerelease, a marketing gimmick was a traveling show of Dune costume design. I remember that all were exquisitely hand crafted, especially Irulan and Jessica’s apparel. A treat to see.
Stellar cast but embarrassing screenplay. It had to flop.
Harkonnens were meant to be gratuitously sadistic in the book and I quite liked their gruesome depiction. Sting did spectacularly well I thought.
All in all, I was miserably disappointed- filming Dune is a formidable task which the present version took on beautifully. And of course, Paul is sheer eye candy!
