When this photograph was published decades ago, I found it especially objectionable. Today, even more so. The photographer subsequently went looking for her and found her. Another photo came along. Even more objectionable. In a dirty blue burka, with smudges of dirt on her face. That fellow found his place in posterity by photographing a war-ravaged child? What is WRONG with people like this photographer! Outrageous white privilege. Incidentally I would find a prize-winning photo of a shoeless dirty Appalachian child equally reprehensible. For shame!
