WHAT I ASK OF YOU

~is not too much~

To be held

Handled gently like a pearl

Approached with finesse,

An easy smile

Is what I ask.

Confide in me —

For you my heart

Is an open calla lily.

Bring me a rose,

Whisper of a feather

Fullness of golden corn,

So that I can rejoice

In these gestures of love.

Rearrange

Perspectives when I fail,

Exclaim when I excel.

Accept me for myself,

Indulge my harmless

Flights of fancy

Talk with me if I trespass

Be kind,

Be kind above all else

Through the course of the day

So that at night

When the shadows play

I can melt with you.
