Well, when I saw this you had me jumping for joy Marc.

I have worshipped at the altar of sir Arthur’s monumental work for decades ( yes, I’m that old ) which leaves Asimov and Co in the dust. Yes I’ll be crucified for saying that.

Only Villeneuve can tackle the scope of Rama and that too in parts, like Dune. Marvelous it’ll be!

Stephen Baxter looms large in my obsession with sci fi. He writes beautifully too. And his range of interests, like you, is mind boggling. His ‘Mammoth’ series is seriously astounding.
Then there’s his series of a Stone Age kind of world. Another of a medieval kind.

Alistair Reynolds? Hit or miss.

Now I can show off.

I lived in Sri Lanka for three years. Can you imagine my hysteria when I met Sir Arthur?
He was a very reclusive man but he took to me and we spent time together simply just hanging out at one of the many gorgeous venues, designed by Jeffrey Bawa, ah! His genius, hotels sounds like an insult, by the sea. Sir Arthur was in a wheelchair and rather antisocial. His little dog Pepsi was a prince adored by us. And fearless. I saw the fellow battling a giant water monitor in the pool. Sent him scrabbling for his life!

I had a huge exhibition of my artwork to which Colombo glitterati were invited. Sir Arthur too naturally, without any expectation of him showing up.

Lo and behold, photographers reverently parted to make way for his wheelchair and in the hush which descended I pounced and hugged him yelling, you came! You came! He mumbled, only for you. What can I say. I’m loved. Sigh.

So there. I have pics as proof!

Thank you for a brilliant exploration of Rama. You grow in stature by the minute, in my eyes.

Perhaps you read poetry on medium? Check out a couple of mine.
Antoun writes the most humungously erudite, scholarly and I might add, inspirational comments which are more readable than my poems!

Ok. Enough. You rock. 💃🏻🌟💃🏻
