Unimaginable Burn

~ A love poem ~

I want you

to live forever.

Not

like the sun’s

penumbra

or blue-haloed

argentine moons

— ultimately finite —

not like

messages

of renewal

for brazen

winged seeds

or creatures

of molted skins,

not like

roil and rise

of salted waters,

not like

thunderbolts

or cosmic currents,

nor that

unimaginable

burn

and upheaval

skywards-bound,

of

earth’s

molten passion,

but just

for my own lifetime.

I want you to live

forever.

That is to say,

as long as

day’s whimsy

and night’s

indigo kisses

fill

my eyes.

That

would be

forever…
