Umair, one of the most powerful pieces you’ve written. And I’ve been reading them since you were in kindergarten!

We fight fear, hate, rejection and confusion. In the outside world and at home. If I were to write a letter to myself of three odd decades ago, this is what I’d say to the old me.

Shed years of conditioning. Be the gifted motherwoman that you grew into. Protect and understand your offspring. Like you do Snowy. Don’t let horrors of the past dictate your present. Fight the worthy fight and stand your ground. Be the wall that tides of abuse cannot break. See yourself as a gift the universe gives to itself. We are after all, stardust.

Couldn’t be more proud of you. May your seasons always turn to the sun.
