Perhaps we expect a little too much of a country that’s been around for not very long.

Throughout its short questionable history, America has painted itself as a Utopia, a melting pot, a haven for the oppressed etc etc. We are at a pass where a massive mirror confronts us. We can choose to see ourselves for what we are, or continue to live in delusions. We are children of the bubble, raised in hubris and isolation. A Trump and millions like him are the reality of America. The rest of us? Rubbing our eyes in sleep-stunned silence and still sunk in our own bottomless denial of that reality.
