Pakistan took in Afghan refugees not out of any altruism— the west threw millions of $$s in aid at Generals and politicians.
When money dried up, it was decided to truck them back to Afghanistan by the thousands. That too, without much notice. A whole generation was born and grew up in Pakistan.
Afghans we’re very well integrated into society. It was horrendous.
