Thank you Martin!
Yes I’ve read Mary Oliver. Ready to read her again.
I seem to be zeroing in on poetry and books I read through my earlier years, including some classics. Such gems! Humbling is what it is!
I love Spanish speaking poets. I mean, simply love. My native language is Urdu and imagery of Urdu poetry is very lush, like Spanish. It truly resonates with me.
I write within the construct of patriarchy. Here in the west, the real sway and damage done by our feudal patriarchal
history is little known. That’s how I grew up. We are conditioned through generations to be subservient to men. And women are complicit in fostering patriarchy. Grandmothers, mothers and so on.
That’s where I derive my fire from!
On Facebook I’m appalled and totally shocked at how much Malala is hated by Pakistani women! And these are allegedly educated ones. Could be envy- it’s one of our defining characteristics- but it’s plain ugly.
I’ve been accused of melodrama in my work! Readers in the west probably ridicule me for it! Lol! So patriarchy and my love of baroque metaphor make for a dense, full of cholesterol mix.
This particular poem is very recent and controlled. Check out some of my old work. You’ll see what I mean!
I love the piece I commented on. Please write more in that flavor and philosophical profundity.
Be well
