We are the most color conscious people I’ve had the displeasure of coexisting with.
I’m from Pakistan. ‘Dark’ girls are rejected as marriage choices. I’m copper colored married into lighter-skinned family. I should know.
We have zero respect for people of color. I mean visitors from other countries of which there are not many. Visitors I mean! As a matter of fact, we call them derogatory names. Color determines your status in life.
Have you not seen whitening treatments in salons and products on shelves? It’s true of india too.

In restaurants it’s the nouveau riche who get preferent treatment. It’s one place where money is the big equalizer.
