Saad, you get 50 claps from me!
Not only is the essay beautifully rendered, it resonates profoundly with readers of subcontinental descent.
I know the area like the geography of my own being since I was born and raised in a rambling mansion on McLeod Road. Convent of Jesus and Mary was where poetry first found me. That and my mother’s Urdu poetry which she would recite to me as bedtime stories, peppered with Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib and other classicists.
Please expand on your recollections and share. My advice would be to serialize your essays. Readers on medium might find it easier to navigate colloquialisms which you use generously. Shorter pieces work better for me at least.
Bravo!!!!! ❤️
