Real writers and artists suck at marketing. Terrible book, that. Read three pages and chucked it. Glad I didn’t buy it! Take comfort in that and keep writing. And reading. Read all the Nobel and Pulitzer winner prose and poets. Read the classics. I can’t write unless I read.

You could try formulaic writing. In my case, I’ve often wondered if I should do a Jhumpa Lahiri thing being a brown immigrant but something cringes inside me! I could easily churn something out aimed at western tastes for exotica. But no.
