Precisely.
Why do you think disenfranchised of the Islamic world are easy prey for fundamentalists? In a madrassa at least kids are fed, get medical aid, have rigorous discipline.

It’s a community which is tight and a huge network for needy people. Of course all kinds of predators abound, from sexual to anything you can think of. But the consequences of being without food and clothes leaves the door wide open. Hey, if mullahs provide all kinds of aid to my family, I’ll put up with just about anything. Even blow myself up.
Poor people have many kids because mortality rate is high and more bodies to either babysit or bring in a meager income… it’s not rocket science.

Child labor is still rampant, girls as boys as old as 8 onwards work as domestic help with no minimum wage without any protection.
Media has bought to light cases in which kids have been beaten to death for eating a forbidden cookie, in ‘educated’ households. Or raped.
No justice at all. Not even social censure. Money buys everything. It’s unconscionable. I get a lot of heat for saying it like it is, even death threats. I’m beyond it.
Islamic world has been quick to latch onto capitalist delights but remained tribal at best. Not that america is any shining example of an equitable system… we have regressed and more to come..
That’s enough of a rant for now!
