Ok. So I went to the midnight showing of Alien Romulus.
I have to say that returning home and seeing the silver disc of a super moon hanging in a velvet sky thrilled me a lot more.
Perhaps I expected too much from it.
Parts of it were reminiscent of an earlier alien film in which Sigourney has an alien baby which was a lot more effective — I actually was moved by the creature. Wasn’t the alien pulled into space in an earlier alien film? Just like this one?
Fresh young faces with British accents were welcome. It didn’t quite rock my alien world.
It couldn’t quite pull together the Romulus and Remus of mythology. A bit forced.
I was happy to see some loyalty to Giger design. It could’ve been so much more. But decided to deliver some more of the same.
Spacecrafts were thoroughly crazy-making! Clumsy CGI.
There. Didn’t mean to trash it but I spent good money in a luxury cinema with room service menu and plush reclining seats. Nachos were great!
