Just to set the record straight, ‘Taliban’ HAVE caused violence in Pakistan and that’s beyond afghan borders. Having said that, the west childishly loves binary thought. It’s not Afghan Taliban or Pakistani Taliban — Baluchistan is a belt which was cavalierly bifurcated by the British. Language is the same, etc. you get my drift. They are one people.

I wish the west could understand that when it comes to Islamic fundamentalists, be it Daesh, Isis, silly moniker Taliban-K, al Qaida, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Biko Haram and other splinter groups, they are heads of the same Hydra. Let’s not forget they all have linkages — ideology is common to them be they groups in Africa or other places. And yes, the situation is such that cut off one head, another will grow. Have any kind of extremist groups ‘reformed’ to become less extremist?? We women have better recall and understanding of oppression.

Umair Haque is pretty much the one who’s nailed it. Again, it’s western hubris to think it knows the soul of the globe, especially Muslim countries, our part of the world. One thing is certain — the west has much to answer for.
