It’s crass. Vulgar. Embarrassing. 
It’s time I wrote an essay on all that I might’ve loved about America. 

Not the america of childhood Hollywood oldies, nor lifestyle of USAID reps in third world countries which seduced us no end, but the America I came to in 1979 as a student at the University of Chicago. And stayed.
