I’m not Indian, but I do know that India had a burgeoning middle class till capitalism produced hyper-rich cartels, just like in the west. Now, like anywhere else, middle class is discovering the double-edged sword of consumerism.

Of course millions go barefoot and undernourished and are wage slaves. I’ve seen cardboard and tin hovels in ghettos next to Mumbai airport.

We tend to forget, those of us who live in the bubbles of metropolii in USA that beyond our line of vision, thousands are caught in the intergenerational cycle of subsistence living, no matter the genetics. In ghettos and rural or tiny city areas. It’s a sad sight to drive through them and see homogeneity of bastions of capitalism everywhere- walmarts, McDonalds, you get the picture. Now that’s where you see the desperation of Trump voters , understand it and accept the startling fact: soul and spirit of America are in pain.
