I’ll be ‘kind’ to us Americans and say that the second part of this paragraph is perhaps closer to that wretched school’s intent — the purpose of the film was to strike dread in little hearts. Become mean little capitalists or you’ll be lugging squeaky shopping carts full of broken dreams and flotsam of your sorry life along broken pavements.
