I would. We apologize and placate too much. And this is particularly the case with most american non fiction writers i find. Either as prologue or epilogue to our truths. Fiction writers can hide behind characters we create and let loose!

Feelings of your readership become inconsequential in the face of a writer’s insights. It’s a serious dilution of passion and turns what we write paler than pale. Like Baldwin, MLK, Malcolm X, and I’m trying to recall names of white American thinkers, one should have the courage of one’s convictions and put it out there.
