Faiz Sahib was a national treasure.
It pains me no end that very few of our luminaries are celebrated by us.

His poetry belongs in schools. His life story is inspirational.

Dr. Abdus Salaam, a Pakistani Nobel prize winner and of course a proud Pakistani is the stuff of legends.

Because of his religious beliefs he’s conveniently erased.

We need role models. We need to constantly build a narrative of heroes. No nation can sustain itself without celebrating its icons.

False histories are taught in educational institutions as a matter of policy.


Thank you for this article. It’s beyond sad that a sense of selfhood has been denied to our youth.
