Excellent article Umair!
I’m from a developing country. Over the decades, whatever infrastructure colonists left behind, has effectively been dismantled. Public goods? An alien concept.
Population has exploded. No government has sat down and formulated a viable plan of action. Why? The WILL is absent. Rational thinking is unknown. Water is running out. Electricity and gas are mostly for affluent and govt enclaves. As is water.
Out and out corruption is the norm.
It’s a young country that’s spun out of control and turned into a failed state.
I could do a better job of budgeting, governance, developing public goods, putting in the work where it’s needed, you get my drift.
It’s a tragedy of multiple dimensions on an unimaginable scale.
It all boils down to feudal and dynastic politics. And let’s not forget THE major player, kingmaker army.
Usa from the country’s inception has meddled and guided and manipulated direction, since it’s a strategic foothold in the region.
And let’s not forget USA and local army’s collaboration in creating the many headed monster — Taliban which now run amok.
