English is so inadequate to be honest, for poetry. Give me Spanish, Persian, Urdu poetry. It’s conceptual. Not just metaphor and simile. Alas I was robbed of my native language by parents and catholic nuns! Needs must blunder on in English.

Poetry sits on my cheek like a livid weal…

Dictionary. As a child I loved reading it. Once in a while I throw in an arcane word, which my favorite writer does too. John Banville. His words are all that we are. Ah, but he’s divine!
