East India Company and its ilk, all over the world have robbed and pillaged natural resources for centuries. ‘Savages’ like us are still enslaved and are paid a pittance by western interests — behemoth like de Beers of African diamonds comes to mind. What are Amazon and Ali Baba but exploiters of labor in low wage companies? Apple too. All our electronics for which we pay thousands of $$$s are the fruits of cheap labor in places like China. India Bangladesh Sri Lanka Turkey etc. produce garments for Victoria’s Secret and sundry apparel companies. I mean, check labels on anything at all.

So yes, we are traumatized and damaged.
