Consumed and Consuming

~ arias flee but love remembers ~

From

A deep embrace

You released

Notes like

Tumbled crystals,

Magical

Mirrors watching you reflect.

You sang

An interrupted eternity in violet

A river

Yes! Choked with water-hyacinths,

Then a tremulous satin prairie

Engulfed our hearts.

Circumventing

Monoliths and shadows,

Shadows of sliced pinnacles

Which were not shadows at all

But restful places —

We breathed together

Created suns and moons.

In a borrowed radiance

We became shiny discs spinning.

We dropped.

Emptiness

But full, so full.

The world whirled on

While echoes of your

sandpapered voice

Paused then

Filling water on emptiness

Fled far away…

Left us bruised

Consumed

And consuming…
