A Night of Agony-Flowers

~ in the heat so cold ~

‘Shadows That Gleam’ Image by Author

If we are ravaged

if we are set upon

by the blackness

in the dead of night

If we are savaged

as the shadows gleam

as a strange fear grips us within

will you tighten the noose

will you challenge the specter

will you desecrate me

with bastardized virtues

because as night falls

within these walls of torment

we wilt

inside the beckoning darkness

we wilt

and if I cried

a requiem for the dead inside ourselves

if the dirge I sang

was tipped with razor talons

would you accept the ravagement

would you

in the dead of night

would you gleam with the shadows

in a fire that burns

as we burn together
