~ blood had called for blood ~

God walked amongst

us in chrome leather

and shiny boots.

Blood called for blood,

all day

singsong of little riddles

fell on asphalt

but no one heard,

blood calling for blood

drowned

hum of pollinating bees,

rhizomes

were eaten by a pox.

Rotated regions of light

we call gems

curdled and died

and a priest intoning

indecipherable benedictions

whispered,

“Tomorrow

I will sodomize you, boy!”

As bombs fell,

inmates wept

at the last day

in an asylum for

the criminally insane —

they had nowhere

left to go.

When God walks

amongst us in chrome leather

and hob nailed boots,
